The Studio developed yet another calendar for Bartolius Law Bureau. This time, we collaborated with the well-known Polish artist Pawel Kuczynski. After exploring his art we made a number of conclusions that helped us find the right creative idea and the accurate form of its execution. His manner and, most notably, the metaphoric nature of his plots resemble those of Hieronymus Bosch. In his time, Bosch was not a master of horrors but rather a master of moral didacticism. Kuczyinski’s ironic and accurate depictions of human sins provoke the feeling of imminent recompense.
The visual image of the calendar came to our designers naturally: we chose a format of a medieval three-part altar where the central panel is between the left- and right-side panels featuring all 12 illustrations — and that enhances the overall impression of the artist’s satirical grotesques.
