Krokodilius of Bartolius Calendar
Upon request of our regular client, Bartoilius Law Bureau the Studio developed a creative idea of a 2016 corporate calendar. The basis of the visual concept was the logo of Bartolius LB that we had long before created. We noticed that the letter «B» is somewhat similar to a crocodile — thus, the semantic key element was found.
We recalled that in the Soviet Union, since the beginning of the 1920s, a satirical magazine «Krokodil» (meaning: Crocodile) was published that castigated human and social vices. In 2016, a fierce red crocodile reappeared in Russia, and it can easily find where to stab its sharp teeth.
The Krokodilius of Bartolius LB holds in his mouth paper sheets with satirical illustrations that castigate corruption, political short-sightedness, bribery, political propaganda, hypocrisy, drunkenness and other vices of the society. Our artists used the caricatures from the old «Krokodil» for individual calendar sheets, and they re-played them in a new way, giving them new interpretations in the contemporary social context. Copywriting smartly stylized the captions to Soviet caricatures taking into account today’s realities.
